Amidst the massive brain drain and immigration of young Nigerian professionals and entrepreneurs to foreign countries for greener pastures, one of the fast-rising entrepreneurs and owner of Procare Multimedia, Akolade Olawoyin, has voiced his opinion on the way forward.

Olawoyin, who spoke in an interview with pressmen over rumours and speculations about him abandoning his business in Nigeria to relocate abroad, denied the claim, noting that he only travels abroad once in a while for relaxation purposes and to also look for ways of expanding his business.

According to him, travelling broadens his mind as a printer and also exposes him to different ideas which help him improve his work as an entrepreneur.

Olawoyin said: “I haven’t relocated neither did I move my business from Nigeria. I travel a lot for work and relaxation. I travel both nationally and internationally for business and relaxation, especially when I have over-stressed myself and I am been advised to rest for a few weeks or months by my doctor.

“Travelling broadened my mind and sight as a printer. When I travel, I see different works related to mine and compare them, know where to improve, enlighten me more and make my work better and different. So, my company is still in Nigeria we haven’t moved.”

On the brain drain going on in Nigeria currently, he said Nigerian entrepreneurs are moving because their skills and education are getting more recognition outside the country.

The business guru added that the rate of Naira falling drastically every time also didn’t help matters. “Our currency is falling every day with no value, things are getting expensive by the day and because of this, the income made from salaries or as an entrepreneur is nothing to write home about.

“A lot of young entrepreneurs have close down their businesses because they can’t keep up. Entrepreneurs can invigorate the economy by creating jobs and new technologies, and increasing productivity but they are not been allowed to do so in Nigeria,” he added.

Olawoyin, however, said though he wasn’t planning on relocating abroad currently, if he had the chance, he would move his family from Nigeria while he stays back to continue growing his business.

The branding guru also hinted at opening a branch of his business – Procare Multimedia in the United Kingdom very soon.
