WIFE of Nigeria’s Vice President, Mrs. Oludolapo Osinbajo has assured victims of Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State that Nigerian women are concerned about their plight. The VP’s wife gave the assurance on Thursday, when she led a delegation of Wives of Service Chiefs to distribute relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day at Government House, Maiduguri.

Mrs. Osinbajo said that she was in Maiduguri to stand for the people of Borno State during the difficult times of Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast sub-region of the country.

“I’m here representing her Excellency, Mrs. Aisha Buhari. She is one person, who over a year now that I have known her is concerned about Nigeria and Nigerians. I’m here also to support the wealthy initiatives of the Defence Officers Wives Association (DOWA). They are the ones that really brought me here to
Maiduguri.

“I have been asked to give a few remarks and as I came here, the first thought that came to my heart is ‘peace be upon this house.’ I know this is the first house of Borno, because this is where the First family lives. And our prayer is that peace will be renewed from here over the entire state,” she said.

On the challenges of women as a result of Boko Haram activities, she said, “We don’t sleep at night because the soldiers and military personnel don’t sleep; they are outside protecting us. And these are their wives; these are their families. They have enough on their plates, just looking after their husbands doing their difficult jobs. But they have thought it fit to look beyond their own need and look at other people that have more needs.
