The Chief Executive Officer, Shakarasquare, Prince Obinna Ude, has called on Nigerians to embrace togetherness and promote stronger sense of community bond.

He made the call during the third edition of the Shakarasquare fitness walk held at Festac, which saw Nollywood actor, and Bolanle Ninalowo, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Chairman, Valentine Buraimoh among others lead residents on a 5km walk.

Ude said Nigerians should take ownership of their community and live peaceful regardless of tribe and ethnicity, adding that the fitness walk was organised to lift inter-ethnic barriers and promote unity among community members.

In his remark, chairman of Amuwo Odofin said though the walk is to promote community bond, the health benefit should not be undermined, as it is very vital for the well being of the people.

“We encourage people to engage in exercise, we have heard several news of people who lose consciousness and most time die in the process. We need to keep doing exercise to keep our body fit and alert anytime we beacon on it and our government will continue to support and promote this programme to ensure our people stay healthy,” he said.

While commending the initiative and turnout, the Nollywood actor said promoting peace among community members is necessary, as it would reduce rivalries.

He also enjoined Nigerians to engage in exercise regularly to stay fit and healthy.
