NJC recommends 14 candidates as Federal High Court judges

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended 14 candidates to President Bola Tinubu for appointment as judges of the Federal High Court.

The recommendation followed the Council’s 110th meeting held on 13 and 14 January 2026, which was presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun.

At the meeting, the NJC resolved to forward the names of successful candidates to the President, subject to the receipt of mandatory security reports.

The candidates are Suleiman Amida Hassan, Muhammad Barau Saidu, Igboko Chinelo Conchita, Onuegbu Chioma Angela, Galumje Edingah, Ibrahim Vera Eneabo, and Abubakar Musa Usman.

The statement signed by Kemi Babalola-Ogedengbe, Deputy Director, Information, NJC also named Salihu Aisha Yunusa, Ikpeme Joy Bassey, Shehu Umaru Adamu, Mohammed Ibrahim Buba, Eigege-Binjin Nendelmum Judith, Usoro Kuyik Uduak, and Nwoye Osinachi Donatus.

The NJC stated that the recommendation was part of its constitutional mandate to strengthen the judiciary through the appointment of qualified and competent judicial officers, in line with due process and established standards.
