The National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal One, sitting in Awka, has been told that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presented no candidate in the Njikoka/Anaocha/Dunukofia Federal Constituency of Anambra State in this year’s general elections.

Making the disclosure in the courtroom at the Anambra judiciary headquarters venue of the sitting, the constituency’s Returning Officer, Prof Nnagbo Okigbo, said he asked/clarified openly and it was confirmed the party had no candidate at the poll, but was surprised how a party/person that didn’t stand in the electoral contest was later announced winner.

The university don, who was led in evidence by the lead prosecution counsel to Chief Dozie Nwankwo of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Kayode Fatoke (SAN).

Another witness and constituent of the area, Mr. Chike Ilonuba, during cross-examination told the three-man panel that PDP presented no candidate in the election, saying he wasn’t aware of any other list from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that showed any candidate for the party for the election.

The tribunal adjourned to July 4, when the counsel representing the INEC would present their witnesses.
