A politician from the South East, Chief Kennedy Fintan Nnaji, has declared his intention to contest the presidency in 2023.

In a statement issued, yesterday, Nnaji, who is also President, of Nigeria Union in Japan and patron of the Lagos chapter of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN), said the country was in dire need of redemption.
Nnaji, who hails from Ikeduru Council of Imo State, said his decision was borne out of the need to bring his experience in the Diaspora to bear on governance in Nigeria.
“There are discordant tunes among Nigerians fueled by selfish reasons. No country can grow in an atmosphere of disunity. Nigerians must see themselves as one for the country to move to greater heights.
“I intend to come in to create harmonious relationship among all Nigerians,” he said.
Maintaining that he would soon announce the political platform under which he would pursue his aspiration, he said the time had come for Nigerians to try fresh ideas from the Diaspora for top political offices.
He added that he would not only bring his experience into the country but would also unify the nation the way he unified all Nigerians resident in Japan.
“My goal is to make Nigeria the best and safest nation that can compete with other nations of the world, where merit and accountability, not ethnic nationality will be supreme.
“As a detribalised Nigerian, part of my unification mission will be to retain our diverse cultures, not as tribes, but as Nigerians that we will sell to the world,” he said.
Nnaji, however, pointed out that he was not intimidated by any of the aspirants, because of his pedigree and experience, which he said, would lend credence to his presidential aspiration.
