The opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has approached an Abuja High Court seeking the disqualification of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Abubakar Abdullahi, in the coming Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship poll billed for February 12, 2022.

NNPP, in the suit, maintained that the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee lacked the legal competence to nominate candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by virtue of Section 183 of the 1999 Constitution.

In the suit filed by its counsel, Kalu Kalu, the opposition party was not only seeking a declarative order against the Buni-led committee, but an order directing INEC not to include Abdullahi in the ballot for the AMAC poll.
