North-East pensioners appeal to govs-elect on payment of gratuities
Pensioners in northeastern part of the country have appealed to the newly-elected governors and the returnee governors in the region to commit themselves to prompt payment of pensions and gratuities to assuage the hardship of the retirees.
North East Zonal National Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Ahmad, in a statement yesterday in Bauchi, said the appeal became necessary considering the situation of pensioners in the region.
“Some state governments pay us token amount of money as pensions while others do not pay regularly,” he said.
