Northern CAN Chairman felicitates with christians at Easter, urges Leah’s release

Rev. Yakubu Pam

Chairman of the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Yakubu Pam, has tasked church leaders and Christian faithful in the northern states to show love to one another and be their brothers keepers as they mark and celebrate this year’s Good Friday and the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead on Easter Sunday.
Pam, in a statement issued in Jos, Plateau State, yesterday, to mark the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus, tasked Christians in the north, FCT and other states of the federation to use the period of Good Friday and Easter to reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus that has given the people hope of better tomorrow, despite their current fears and challenges in life.
He called on Christian faithful to use the Easter celebrations to show love to the less privileged in society by sharing gifts to the needy, widows and orphans within their environment.

Pam also used the occasion to call on northern state governors to join hands with the federal government to bring to an end the current armed banditry in Zamfara State, kidnapping for ransom on Abuja-Kaduna highway and activities of armed gun men in northwest and north central states of the federation.
He called on the federal authorities to do all it could to effect the release of Leah Sharibu and other school girls still held in Boko Haram captivity, so that they could reunite with their families soon.
Pam used the occasion to call on all Nigerians to reflect the life of Jesus Christ in their dealings with fellow Nigerians for the return of lasting peace in all parts of the country.
