The Northern Governors’ Forum has expressed deep sadness over the demise of a distinguished elder statesman and former Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Adamu Fika, who died at the age of 90 years.
Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on behalf of the northern governors, described the late Fika as an exemplary leader and towering figure who left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s civil service and educational institutions, and whose legacy transcends his lifetime.
Also, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, Dr. Goke Adegoroye, who described Fika as a father to many, said he was such a patriotic Nigerian who was ready to give his all, even at great discomfort to his person.
He said: “Adamu Wazirin Fika was a treasure to the Nigerian civil service. He was and would continue to be a reference point for professionalism, principled stand, courage and integrity as the hallmarks of a worthy Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
“He did his part and has now gone to meet his Maker. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”
Yahaya, who described Fika’s demise as a monumental national loss, said his death marks the end of an era, but his legacy would live on as an enduring example of what a true civil servant should embody.
He stressed that the elder statesman’s vision for strong national institutions would remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.
