The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Oyo State has said that nothing will stop its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, from holding rally in Ibadan today.

Addressing a press conference at the Mokola office of the PCC, yesterday, the APC presidential and gubernatorial campaigns council in Oyo, Dr. Isiaka Kolawole, said days ago when Tinubu was billed to hold a rally in Ibadan, there were protests.

Kolawole, who was surrounded by other APC leaders, including the state chairman, Isaac Omodewu, said: “This is one coincidence too many.”

The campaign council, while noting that the PDP also slated a rally across the councils same day as the APC, insisted: “The presidential rally of APC scheduled to hold on February 16, 2023 at Mapo Hall will hold as planned.

This morning, we concluded all the necessary arrangements for a hitch-free rally; the venue is ready and the stage is set. Our party members and the people of Oyo are ready to receive and show their love to Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.

“The nefarious activities of some hoodlums and their mentors to cause strife in the state to forestall the actualisation of the rally will not work. Tinubu and Shettima will be in Mapo in the ancient city of Ibadan tomorrow to unfold their great plans to Oyo people as it is being done in other states.”

However, the state PDP, through its Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji, said the APC was speaking out of frustration, since the party had seen that suffering Nigerians were rejecting its candidates.

Olatunji said: “Every discerning mind knows that people are protesting as a result of APC’s anti-people policies.”

He also denied knowledge of any rally by the PDP today.

All APC governors and ministers from Ogun, Lagos, Ondo and Ekiti states, including the immediate past governor of Osun, Isiaka Oyetola, are expected at the party’s Ibadan rally today, as the Local Organising Committee for the rally says all arrangements for the rally had been concluded.

The southern governors will be joined by their counterparts from Kano, Kaduna, Imo, Nasarawa and Niger.

The seven ministers from the South West are also expected at the rally, as the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, will lead members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other top chieftains of the party.
