NSCDC advocates youth-led fight against social vices
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has emphasised the need for youth integration in the fight against social disorder, vandalism, violence, extremism, and drug abuse.
Speaking at the Lagos State Youths’ Multi-Stakeholders Summit on Crime Reduction and Prevention, Deputy Commandant of NSCDC, Dapo Fasae, representing the State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, highlighted the importance of equipping young people with knowledge and skills to resist harmful influences and make informed choices.
The summit at the Ikeja Youth Centre brought together stakeholders to address the pressing issues of youth integration and social disorder.
It was organised by the Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security and Safety Affairs, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, NSCDC, and others, and aimed at proffering lasting solutions to security problems and social menaces.
Fasae proposed solutions such as workshops, training programmes, and campaigns focused on crime prevention, conflict resolution, and substance abuse prevention.
He also emphasised community engagement, mentorship, leadership, economic empowerment, and effective social welfare systems.
Other speakers, including Dr. Tony Ofoyetan, Dr Wale Amusa, and Bello Oluwashina Opeyemi, contributed to the discussion, and an interactive panel session moderated by Oluwafemi Olatunji set the tone for a robust exchange of ideas.
Awards were presented to deserving individuals, including Mr Adedotun Keshinro, for their efforts in combating social disorder.
