Uncovers illegal oil storage site in Lagos
 
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), yesterday, uncovered an illegal oil refining site for Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), also known as diesel in Etal Avenue, off Kudirat, Abiola way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.
  
The team of the Commandant General Special Intelligence Squad, who uncovered the illegal site on Monday at about 12 p.m. arrested 19 suspects, seized 81 trucks, nine buses, twelve pumping machines, twenty five surface tanks, 140 drums containing illegally refined AGO, 15 generators, and a sum of N4m in a car.
     
Lagos State Civil Defence Public Relations Officer (CDPRO), Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASCI), Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide,  in a statement, yesterday, said the CG Special Intelligence Squad, relied basically on credible intelligence, in line with the CG’s charge to stamp out oil thieves in the Oregun area of Lagos  State and other states of the nation.
   
He said: “The Squad was immediately re-enforced by the Anti-Vandal team of the Lagos State Command, on the swift orders of the Commandant, Eweka Okoro, who directed that the arrested suspects be brought for adequate interrogation and investigation, in the Intelligence and Investigation (INT) Department, at the State Command Headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, before further legal action will be taken on the matter.”
   
Meanwhile, the Anti-Vandal unit of the Command has been directed by the Commandant to take full charge of the illegal oil site immediately, to forestall any further untoward activity by the economic saboteurs.
