The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and BHM, a global communications and public relations firm, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the visibility and reputation of NSE through strategic communications initiatives.
The agreement was signed at NSE’s Lagos Liaison Office, with attendees including NSE President Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, Vice President for Professional Development Engr. Dr. Aluya Dauda Okodugha, NSE Lagos Liaison Officer Engr. Eyo Idongesit, and BHM CEO Ayeni Adekunle.
This partnership formalises ongoing collaboration between NSE and BHM to drive public engagement and improve the perception of the engineering profession in Nigeria.
The two organisations will work together on communications advisory, public relations planning, and media relations, aimed at raising awareness of NSE’s role in Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Oguntala noted the significance of the partnership, particularly the role of training in transforming the profession.
She noted BHM’s past contribution in 2014, when they helped organize training for NSE’s media team, improving their performance.
She also noted NSE’s ongoing efforts to equip engineers with skills for the evolving industry, through training programmes focused on data analytics and digital transformation.
Ayeni Adekunle, CEO of BHM, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting NSE’s mission, emphasising the role of strategic communications in reshaping perceptions and driving growth. He also mentioned potential collaborations with tertiary institutions to develop professional training programs for young engineers.
Founded in 1958, NSE has been dedicated to fostering engineering excellence and professional competence in Nigeria.
The election of Engr. Oguntala as NSE’s first female president in 2024 marks a milestone in the society’s leadership and commitment to inclusion and development. This partnership with BHM is expected to create opportunities for further training, partnerships, and scholarships, supporting NSE’s mission to empower engineers and advance the profession.
