Nwodo enjoins women to build stronger ties for leadership positions


Women have been asked to combine efforts and build a stronger and broad-based organisations that would enable them aspire to leadership positions in the country.President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, said political arrangements in the country were skewed against the womenfolk despite their numerical strength, stressing that time had come for women to take leadership positions by supporting their own.

Nwodo, who spoke yesterday in Enugu at a seminar organised by Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom in honour of Prof. Uche Azikiwe and Prof Joy Ezeilo, said women had found it difficult to mobilise themselves and remained economically dependent on men, which had hindered their pursuits and political advancement.
