NYSC inaugurates automated disinfection chamber against COVID-19 in Akwa Ibom
• State takes delivery of fourth airplane for Ibom Air fleet
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has inaugurated automated disinfection chamber in Akwa Ibom State to sanitise against coronavirus infection.
The automated disinfection chamber, which has the capacity to sanitise the whole body in three seconds, was inaugurated by the Akwa Ibom State Co-ordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Julius Amusan, in Uyo yesterday.
According to him, the chamber was constructed by corps members in the state as part of their contribution to the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that the product was constructed by the corps members through the knowledge of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
In another development, the fourth aircraft in the fleet of Ibom Air arrived in Uyo yesterday and was received by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
The governor, while receiving the Bombardier CRJ 900 Aircraft, said that the airplane was still within warranty of planes in the domestic aviation.
He said that the arrival of the plane was in fulfillment of the business case and operational timetable that had been set by the government, adding that another aircraft was being expected.
Amusan, who said that the NYSC management attached great importance to the SAED programme to ensure that corps members within the service year acquire additional skill to their knowledge, said: “In the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), we have what we called skills entrepreneurship development programme under which we train corps members in different skills.
