Tinubu has failed to tackle hunger, insecurity, says ADC’s Aborisade

Chief Niyi Aborisade

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Niyi Aborisade, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of failing to address hunger, insecurity and unemployment in Nigeria.

Aborisade said the economic hardship confronting Nigerians, coupled with persistent security challenges, had raised questions about the effectiveness of the policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.

It would be recalled that Tinubu had blamed the opposition for hunger and hardship in the country.

In an interview with The Guardian in Ibadan, the human rights lawyer argued that unemployment, particularly among young people, contributed to rising criminal activities, insisting that the government needed to do more to create jobs and improve citizens’ living conditions.

The ADC chieftain said his party had identified the challenges confronting the country and would pursue policies aimed at addressing their underlying causes.

According to him, the ADC plans to create employment opportunities, particularly for young Nigerians, while restoring fuel subsidy support to cushion the effects of its removal.

Aborisade expressed confidence that the ADC could attract voters seeking an alternative to the APC in the 2027 general elections.

He said electoral success would depend not only on party membership but also on the support of millions of Nigerians who did not belong to any political party.

The ADC chieftain maintained that voters would support a party they believed could address their economic and security concerns.

He also criticised the APC’s political leadership in Oyo State, arguing that the party had yet to resolve its internal challenges ahead of the 2027 governorship election
