The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has said the statement by former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has vindicated its claim that Ayodele Fayose’s emergence as governor was compromised.

In a statement by APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun in Ado Ekiti yesterday, the party said Obanikoro’s revelation that he gave millions of dollars to Fayose had revealed that he won the election through fraud.

“We said it that Fayose was provided money by the Federal Government and soldiers to win the election.“Captain Sagir Koli’s tape said it in an audio recording where Fayose himself said he collected the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) soft copies. Even former PDP State Secretary, Tope Aluko told Nigerians how the process was compromised to give victory to Fayose,” he said.

According to him: “It is baffling that Fayose who had been grandstanding that he did not collect money from the Federal Government now has no answer to Obanikoro’s confession other than saying the former minister was paid to give his statement against him.”

Olatunbosun said now that Obanikoro had corroborated Aluko’s statement on the issue, Fayose should be prepared to face the law.“It is now clear why Fayose made himself the spokesman of the opposition by criticising every action of the Federal Government and striving to pull down President Buhari’s administration.

“But the game is up. The law will eventually catch up with him because whatever a man sows, he shall reap.”APC further sad: “We agree with Fayose that Buhari should fight hunger, but we also agree that the president should fight those who caused hunger by looting the nation’s treasury in which the governor is a major partaker.”
