Obaseki hails volunteers for contribution to economy
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has hailed the commitment and contributions of volunteers to the state, saying his government will continue to empower and support them to contribute, effectively, their quota to the development and growth of the state.
The governor, according to a statement by Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Project, Crusoe Osagie, gave the commendation in commemoration of the International Volunteer Day for Social and Economic Development marked yearly by the United Nations and its sister agencies to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism.
He said: “Efforts of volunteers cannot be undermined in the social and economic development of any society. From providing essential services to those in need, to supporting economic growth and innovation, volunteers make invaluable contributions to the well-being of communities everywhere. They contribute in every sector and in several organisations. Without volunteers, we will be short of manpower.”
