Obi Cubana hosts Seyi Tinubu, reaffirms support for inclusive development

Renowned Nigerian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has hosted Seyi Tinubu at his Abuja residence, using the meeting to reaffirm his commitment to inclusive development, regional cooperation, and expanded youth engagement in Nigeria’s national growth agenda.

Speaking on the significance of the engagement, Obi Cubana stressed that development in the South-East and across Nigeria must rise above political divisions and partisan interests.

He said progress should be driven by competence, integrity, and constructive engagement with leadership.

“The development of the South-East must be an all-inclusive project, free from partisan politics,” he said. “It can only be achieved when competent individuals are in positions of influence, guiding those in power and helping to deliver meaningful outcomes for the people.”

Reflecting on recent improvements in security in the South-East, Obi Cubana commended governors in the region for collaborating with the Federal Government to tackle insecurity.

He noted that the relative peace recorded during the last festive season enabled families and businesses to reconnect with their roots.

“For the first time in a long while, we returned home in December and truly enjoyed Ala Igbo,” he said. “This was made possible by deliberate efforts to address insecurity.

I believe our region is on the path to regaining its status as an economic powerhouse in West Africa. Better days are ahead.”

Addressing reactions to his appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Obi Cubana acknowledged the mixed responses but insisted that meaningful change comes from engagement, not withdrawal.

“I understand the varied reactions my appointment has generated,” he said. “But lasting change comes from engaging with the system, not standing outside it.”

He reaffirmed that his core values of service, integrity, and community development would continue to guide his public and private engagements.

“Service remains my guiding principle, and this role does not alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership,” he stated.

Emphasising the importance of proximity to decision-making, Obi Cubana said influence is most effective when exercised from within the system.

“I’ve learned that influence works best when you are part of the process. So yes, I am a City Boy, inside and out,” he said.

He also described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as an embodiment of the City Boy ethos, citing his background in commerce and leadership, and called for collective national effort.

“Our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is a City Boy and a man of commerce. We need one another to achieve our national aspirations,” he said.

Calling for unity and constructive dialogue, Obi Cubana urged Nigerians to focus on value creation rather than division.

“Let us respect differing views and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now — we move,” he said.

He expressed gratitude for public support and outlined plans for 2026 aimed at deepening youth engagement nationwide, leveraging private-sector experience to support initiatives that empower young people, women, and small businesses.

“Where enterprise meets vision and leadership is right, I will always support efforts that improve lives and secure the future,” he said.
