Obi must respect agreement with Ikpeazu in guber election, Abia LP group demands
Abia State Labour Party Vanguards has called on the party leadership to keep to the terms of the agreement entered into with the PDP’s Dr Okezie Ikpeazu before the presidential election held on February 25.
The Labour Party in the state recalled that there existed an agreement between the two camps to work together for Peter Obi’s emergence in the last presidential election, in which the Labour Party candidate emerged victoriously thus calling on its party leaders to keep to the terms of the agreement.
The Coordinator of the Vanguard, Chetachi Ikpe, noted that the Abia state government gave all necessary logistics support to Obi to enhance his victory, unlike other South Eastern states that worked against LP’s candidate.
Therefore, the LP leaders in Abia State are restraining Peter Obi from coming to Abia to campaign for the LP’s gubernatorial candidate, Dr Alex Otti in the state.
“Most importantly, Ikpeazu had the opportunity to behave like other governors in the region but chose to forego that, so as not to tamper with Obi’s votes. Unfortunately, he ended up sacrificing his senatorial bid in the process.
“It is therefore only fair and just that our principal should be his usual honourable self by keeping to the terms of the agreement, and should not come back to Abia to openly campaign for Dr Alex Otti, to avoid antagonising the Governor, who has kept his own side of the agreement,” Ikpe advised.
