Obi of Onitsha expands cabinet, appoints US-based attorney
The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Ugochukwu Achebe, has appointed a celebrated Nigerian diplomat, Ojinnaka Azikiwe, into the cabinet of the popular commercial city.
Azikiwe, a finance professor from the lineage of Nigeria’s late former President, Nnamdi Azikiwe, hails from the Ogbeabo Quarters.
A statement from the palace signed by Mr Osita Anionwu, Chief of Staff to Obi of Onitsha, disclosed the diplomat has “wide experience in the public sector”.
It said that he is currently the Director of Budget; Treasury, in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission.
Also appointed into the Obi’s cabinet is Onwa Akpom of Omozele kindred in Umuezearoli quarters.
Akpom, the palace statement added, was before now an Attorney-at-law based in the United States of America.
Details of their formal investiture, the statement pointed out, would be made public soon.
