Odia pledges to work with FG for delivery of affordable homes


The Chief Executive Officer of the Millard Fuller Foundation, Sam Odia, reiterated its commitment to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s stock of affordable homes.

He expressed the organization’s readiness to provide housing for national projects such as Ruga.

Odia disclosed this during the commissioning of the 5km Masaka-Luvu Road by Vice-President Sen. Kashim Shettima, who said that the organization would build up to 100,000 affordable homes nationwide in the next few years.

He noted that the organization had already built more than a thousand units with immediate plans for 2,000 more, to accommodate government workers at the lowest cost possible, utilizing green, climate-smart, energy-efficient systems.

He emphasized that the Luvu community was quickly evolving into a city and presented Luvu road as a valuable opportunity for both Federal and State Governments, adding that, “We are fast becoming a city. This is a low-hanging fruit for both Federal and State Governments to latch onto.”

Odia shared a vision of building new towns in Nasarawa connected by road, rail, and other means of transportation directly to the federal capital, where one could live in Lafia, join the bullet train line, and reach offices in Maitama, Abuja within an hour.

Earlier in his address, Shettima, underscoring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, assured continued partnership with Nasarawa State for further infrastructure development.

In his remarks, Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, expressed gratitude to Vice-President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, noting that the access road would bring about economic growth and development given the growing population in the area.

The commissioning ceremony witnessed dignitaries within and outside the state, including Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, former national chairman of the APC Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Senator Ahmed Wadada representing Nasarawa West, Hon. Abdulmumin Mohammed Ari representing Nasarawa-Toto federal constituency, and Hon. Abubakar Hassana Laraba representing Awe-Keana-Doma federal constituency.

Its would be recalled that, in February 11, 2022, former Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo commissioned the 248-unit energy-efficient, GrandLuvu 3B housing estate developed by the Millard Fuller Foundation.

Additionally, he dedicated the 1,000th house built by the organization with the support of partners such as Reall UK, Fuller Center for Housing,Selavip International and others.
