The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Special Marshall Unit of the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), has embarked on sensitisation of motorists, ahead of the Yuletide period.
Addressing journalists at the programme in Abeokuta, yesterday, the Executive Chairman of OGIRS, Olugbenga Olaleye, said the exercise was necessary, as it would ensure motorists obtain right documents and comply with safety rules during Yuletide.
He said: “The exercise is a dual process; principally, to ensure safety of road users and expand the tax net through payment of appropriate road taxes. For 2024, the state has over N700 billion budget. This process will contribute to revenue generation for the government to deliver on its campaign promises.”
Olaleye enjoined road users to stay on the right side of the law, use roads safely, ensure vehicle papers are updated, and contribute to building the state by paying taxes.
