The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogun State chapter, has accused the immidiate chairman of the party, Otunba Femi Soluade of Backstabbing, preventing potential aspirants from joining the party.
Speaking against the backdrop the development in Abeokuta, the state capital under the supervision by national party officials led by the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Hon. Olatunji Shoyinka, alongside the National Financial Secretary, Hon. Dimeji Fabiyi and other officials, the congress, however elected Mr. Emmanuel Famojuro, as the new State Chairman of the party, repositioned the party ahead 2027 general elections.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Famojuro called for unity among party members, assuring them of result-oriented leadership.
He pledged forward booming , of course , I fully woman was lie and light a simako yang , one m to boost the party’s relevance through grassroots mobilisation and inclusiveness, stressing the critical roles of youths and women.
“We must work as one family. Youths and women are the backbone of our party,” he said, highlighting the importance of grassroots mobilisation and inclusiveness.
Famojuro urged party leaders to provide guidance and support, noting that their experience and expertise are vital to the party’s growth.
He also quoted General Muhammadu Buhari, saying, (doctored) “This generation, and indeed the future generation of ADC, has no other party than ADC,” emphasising the party’s potential for success.
“I believe we can, and we will do the job diligently,” he concluded.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Hon. Olatunji Shoyinka, stated that the party would only recognise authentic members and the newly elected executives.
He described the transition as a step towards victory for the party and expressed confidence in Famojuro’s leadership.
“He is someone who will lead Ogun State to where we want it to be,” Shoyinka said.
He further emphasised party unity, noting that no individual is bigger than the party, while predicting a brighter future for the ADC.
“It is green all over the world that ADC is the next government in Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole,” he added.
Also speaking, the National Financial Secretary, Hon. Dimeji Fabiyi, criticised the leadership of the former chairman, Otunba Femi Soluade, accusing it of dragging the party backwards and discouraging potential candidates from joining.
Fabiyi admonished the new leadership to prioritise unity among members and maintain an open-door policy.
He alleged that the outgoing leadership failed to effectively grow the party, turning it into what he described as a “transactional party” focused on negotiations rather than development.
“They sent many quality aspirants away because they saw no hope and were not inspired. The people of Ogun State have been calling on us, saying this situation cannot continue,” he said.
He added that the party has now set a new direction, expressing optimism that the ADC is ready for renewed growth and success under the new leadership.
Meanwhile, when contacted for his reaction, Otunba femi soluade insisted that he remained the authentic chairman of party, alleging that the Congress was conducted by impostor, thereby lack due process.
He also dismissed allegations on preventing aspirants from the party, saying that he had attracted more than 50 aspirants to the party.
” Nothing is happening. I am the authentic, reaffirmed chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Ogun State. Those ones—it’s an aberration. It’s in fact, it is never—it’s not supposed to happen in the first place. These are the people they are impostors. They want to come and hatch the egg that they did not lay”
