Ogun assures of enabling environment for traditional rulers

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuape said this during his separate visits to Olu of Ilaro, paramount ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle in his palace, Ilaro, and paramount ruler of Egba land, Alake of Egba, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo. He said the issue of traditional council should not cause any crisis, adding that the present administration would always follow due process in conducting the institution’s affairs.

Afuape promised the ministry would not take any step in the council without recourse to and proper approval of the paramount rulers in the concerned areas of the state. He appreciated Oba Olugbenle for the report presented while he chaired the committee on the 75 promoted and upgraded Obas carried out by the last administration, saying the report would guide government in solving some of the challenges being faced in the councils.

Oba Olugbenle charged the commissioner to be a role model to others and enjoined him to be guided in his conducts towards traditional rulers.Oba Adedotun Gbadebo appreciated the commissioner for the visit and advised him to be sincere in all his conducts with traditional rulers.
