Renames key highway after Tinubu, strengthens power, governance structure
Ogun State Government, yesterday, commissioned the ATC Business and Industrial Park in Ode-Remo, and flagged off the development of a shopping mall within the facility aimed at boosting industrialisation and economic growth.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Works, Adebowale Akinsanya, at the event, said the project aligns with the state’s economic agenda of attracting investment, creating jobs, and improving the standard of living.
He described the park as a strategic initiative that would provide a structured hub for industries and commercial activities, adding that it would stimulate small and medium enterprises while drawing both local and foreign investors.
The governor commended the Chairman of Abejoye Trading Company (ATC), Oladipo Odujinrin, for what he called a visionary project that supports the state’s position as a leading industrial destination in Nigeria.
According to him, the facility would also drive community development in Ode-Remo and its environs through increased commerce, skills development, and improved livelihoods.
In his remark, Odujinrin said the project represents a major milestone in private-sector-led infrastructure development, noting that the industrial park is already operational and attracting international investors.
He disclosed that the 10-acre facility has four acres fully developed, with three warehouses currently occupied by foreign-owned companies, while core infrastructure, such as roads, power supply, and administrative buildings, has been completed.
Odujinrin said the park’s proximity to the Gateway International Airport in Iperu/Ilishan and the proposed Olokola Deep Sea Port positions it as a key logistics and industrial hub.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Executive Council has approved the renaming of the Sagamu–Iperu–Sapade Expressway as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway, in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement yesterday, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, disclosed that the decision followed an earlier announcement to rename the Artery Bypass during the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport and other landmark projects last Saturday.
In a related development, the former Aviation Village in Iperu has been renamed after the late Oba Adeleke Idowu Basibo, in recognition of his contributions to the community.
The Council also approved the procurement of 50 electricity transformers to improve power supply across the state under the Light Up Ogun Project, among other projects.
