Ogun female guber candidate vows not to step down
The only female governorship candidate in Ogun State contesting under the United Democratic Party (UDP) Dr. (Mrs.) Jackie Adunni Kessim has vowed not to step down for any of the 16 male contenders in the race.
Speaking during her campaign rally at Ota, Ogun State, she said despite pressure from other contenders to step down, she would not, because, according to her, with majority of her supporters cutting across the 20 local governments, she was confident of winning the gubernatorial election come March 2, 2019.
On how she would achieve her dream without a sponsor or godfather, Kassim said she had toured the 20 local governments, and people turned out to endorse her candidature, promising to support her voluntarily in order to succeed.
She said since Ogun State was created in 1976, no female has become governor, while the males elected failed to turn the state’s fortunes around, despite the abundant human and natural resources.
