Oguntade tasks Nigerians to care more for children as future leaders

The President, Rotary Club of Gbagada, Olubunmi Oguntade has called for more compassion, care and practical assistance for children, the future Nigerians, with a view to overcoming teething challenges during their growth.

She made the plea during her investiture as the 40th President of the club (2023-2024), the induction of board members as well as fundraising for humanitarian projects, at Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.

Oguntade, who expressed concern for children, disclosed her major project in addition to others to be renovation of Paediatric Ward at Gbagada General Hospital, which was built by the club, a project which was started in 1986 but completed in 1988.
“We are remodelling and expanding the ward, which would no longer be paediatric emergency ward but children ward.

“We are adding other features such as reflection or meditation room for all kinds of faith, play ground for children as well as a room for mothers whose children are on admission” she said.

The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110 (Lagos and Ogun states), Ifeyinwa Ejezie, who described Rotary Club of Gbagada as a viable and notable club in the district, solicited support for Oguntade, who she said would not limit her compassion on the children but also touch lives of the less privileged.

Past District Governor, Adeniji Raji, also sought support for Oguntade on the project that would  gulp not less than N20m while the immediate Past President of the club, Alozie Nsirimobi, who empowered 74 youths of Ojodu Local Council and Development Area (LCDA) with his project from Waste to Wealth during his tenure, also pleaded for support for Oguntade.
