Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council yesterday urged Federal Government and the Ministry of Health to disclose the true identities of 156 passengers on board the aircraft that brought in the index case to the county.

In a statement in Abakaliki, National President of OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said the disclosure would be a preventative of halting the spread of COVID- 19 now ravaging the world, especially China.

Insisting that the situation should be treated as a matter of urgency and national security, he charged the Minister of Health, Osagie Enahire, to inform members of the public about their identities, noting that Nigerians were apprehensive and ready to help the Federal Government to fish out those in the Aircraft since it was struggling to contact the passengers.

He said OYC recall that with the identity of Patrick Sawyer revealed by former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration during the Ebola outbreak helped the country to halt its spread.

“The should do the needful and reveal the true identity of the Italian man and his pictures to the public without further delay.“OYC also appeals to the South East Governors Forum to put adequate health preventive measures in the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri as we discovered laxity in screening of passengers by health workers at the airport.

“Also, there should be strict health preventive measures at all motor parks in the South East, especially those conveying passengers from South West, OYC is monitoring to know the identities of those that had come in contact with the Italian Coronavirus patient in Lagos and Ogun states,” the statement reads. The group also asked the governors to build emergency isolation centres with world-class facilities to ensure that they are prepared for any eventuality.
