A coalition of civil society organizations in the Nigeria Delta region has commended the performance of the Tantita Security Service Nigeria Limited in the protection and security of the nation’s pipelines.
Arising from her monthly general meeting over the weekend in Asaba, Delta State, the group said following its assessment of the situation on the ground in Niger-Delta Area, Tantita Security Network is doing a great job.
The group said it was not surprised that the federal government renewed the pipelines surveillance contract awarded to Tantita, noting that it was a testament and a confirmation of the good job done and the confidence reposed in the security outfit to protect and nip in the bud actions by vandals to disrupt the free flow of the nation’s crude oil and arrest the continuous vandalism of the nation’s pipelines for selfish interest.
The National Coordinator of Restore Nigeria Integrity Initiatives (RNII), one of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that made up the Coalition, Comrade Victor Itsede, applauded the achievements recorded so far in the oil sector since Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited was given the job of securing the nation’s pipelines.
Itsede in a statement said crude oil production has increased and with the rise of crude oil to almost $100 per barrel, that means more revenue for the government.
According to him, “The discovery of several illegal pipelines in the creeks and the destruction of vessels at sea on a voyage, ferrying illegal crude oil out of the shores of Nigeria by the combined forces of Nigerian Security Forces occasioned by intelligence gathering and sharing by Tantita Security, is very only commendable.”
The coalition in its communique at the end of the meeting, said that no one changes a winning team in the middle of the game. They frowned at what it described as orchestrated plans by ex-militant leaders to sponsor protests with a view to forcing the government to split the contract awarded to Tantita Security Services.
The group urged all militants interested in protecting and securing the nation’s pipelines for the good of the nation to liaise with Tantita Security Services Ltd and work as a team with the ultimate goal of service delivery to the nation.
They called on Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), as a private limited liability company to immediately as a matter of urgency, take advantage of the benefits from Tantita enhanced security network and streamline its operations, increase production, generate more income and maximize profits for the growth and development of the nation while facilitating the efficient transportation of crude oil to refineries and distribution of its products across the country in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
