Okogie made the appeal while speaking with The Guardian at the Christmas Carol and Drama programme organised by the Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children in Surulere, Lagos, yesterday.
He explained that experience has shown that those classified as disabled usually perform better than those who are termed ‘able-bodied’, while lamenting that the high rate of selfishness and greed in the society, has made many people to neglect that segment of the society.
Principal of the School, Sister Jane Onyeneri said the event was an opportunity to thank the institutions’ benefactors, display talents by the students and to rejoice about the nativity of Christ Jesus, which the month of December was noted for.
The children who defied their bodily limitations, demonstrated various artistic displays in Carol songs, cultural troupe dance, vocational skills, sang poems to the admiration of guests and parents.
