The Wole Olanipekun Scholarship Scheme has awarded over 473 scholarships to indigent students in the last 20 years across the country, courtesy the benevolence of the principal of the scheme, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN).

The scheme’s Chairman, Board of Trustees, Mr. S.S. Omoyemi, who made this known in his welcome address at its 20th anniversary ceremony in Ikere-Ekiti, added that the programme, which started in 1996 with six public secondary schools in Ikere-Ekiti town, has grown to include tertiary institutions and law schools beyond Ekiti State.

The scheme covers three categories- the secondary, tertiary and law school- and is aimed at assisting indigent students of Ikere origin in secondary school.

It affects students of 11 public secondary schools in the town and 235 candidates have enjoyed it, while some of them are still enjoying it in their tertiary institutions.

At the tertiary level, 170 candidates of Ikere origin have benefited, as well as 137 others from 15 local councils areas of the state.
