Olubadan elevates Makinde, Durosaro in Ibadan traditional institution

Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, is set to elevate two chiefs to higher ranks in the Otun Olubadan chieftaincy line as part of ongoing developments in the traditional institution.

The two chiefs are Chief Kabiru Ademola Makinde, Mogaji Makinde Ope-Oya Compound, Oje area of Ibadan, and Chief Charles Olumuyiwa Durosaro of Durosaro Compound, Gegelose area of the city.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, the elevation ceremony will take place on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

The statement said Makinde would be elevated to the position of Ajia Olubadan of Ibadanland, while Durosaro would assume the traditional position of Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The development is expected to also strengthen the Otun Olubadan chieftaincy line and advance the traditional hierarchy of Ibadanland.

The ceremony at the Olubadan Palace is expected to bring together members of the traditional institution and other stakeholders to witness the formal elevation of the two chiefs.
