Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has said that his administration has no plan to sack its workers, even as he warned against laziness

The Governor made the declaration yesterday while addressing a large congregation of Ondo state workers at the first working day prayer held at the Governor’s Office Akure.

Mimiko, who submitted that the year 2016 is not a year for lazy workers, because of the challenges facing the nation, described 2016 as a year of true diversification of the Nigerian economy.

At the individual level, Governor Mimiko stressed the need for the workers to diversify their means of income and embark on vocation of relative advantage, especially agriculture, noting that over-reliance on salaries alone would not do them any good.

He said in spite of the present economic indices in the country that his administration is committed to good governance and prudent management of human and material resources.

“We will not retrench workers in 2016, in spite of the present economic challenges. Our government will continue to manage available resources”, Mimiko said.

He revealed that over 200 Agro-preneurs would be graduating from the 4 Agro-Business Cities across the state this year stating that the programme has empowered them to be self-reliant and job providers.

He said it is exciting that the chickens being sold at the Shoprite Akure come from the state Agro-Business Cities.
Mimiko concluded by saying God has made the state a cynosure of all eyes among states in Nigeria citing examples of states that have come to understudy some of its programmes including the mega primary schools and Abiye Safe Motherhood Initiative.

In his message at the service, the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Joshua Ketiku, who appreciated God for the peace and transformation in the state, pleaded with the workers to give 100% support to the present administration in the state so that more dividends of democracy could be delivered to the people.
