Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has said that his predecessor, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has a journey in public service that remains one of the most remarkable in Nigeria’s parliamentary history.
In a post on X, Tajudeen noted how Gbajabiamila rose through the ranks from Minority Leader to Majority Leader and ultimately Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, a feat unmatched in Nigeria’s legislature.
Tajudeen said this to celebrate Gbajabiamila on his 64th birthday.
According to him, across both the Legislative and Executive arms of government, Gbajabiamila has distinguished himself as a patriot, institution builder and consummate public administrator. He said his six-term representation of his constituency and his enduring contributions to parliamentary reforms, legislative diplomacy and nation-building have left indelible footprints on our democratic journey.
“As Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, I continue to draw inspiration from the strong institutional foundations and reform-minded leadership he exemplified. His invaluable role in fostering a productive relationship between the National Assembly and the Executive has been instrumental to our collective efforts to move Nigeria forward.
“On this special day, I pray that Almighty Allah grants him many more years in sound health, divine wisdom and continued strength for national service,” Tajudeen said.
Gbajabiamila now serves as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
