Wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu and National President of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, Tolu Taiwo, have decried lack of institutional support for cancer patients.

They stated this during a media briefing at the BRECAN Centre in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, at the weekend.

The governor’s wife, who is also the founder of BRECAN, expressed dissatisfaction over the unwholesome attitude of well- to-do Nigerians and people in authority towards this noble cause of funding and other logistics support for cancer patients.

She said strong awareness, advocacy and enlightenment campaign were in top gear in most places where BRECAN is firmly rooted.

The BRECAN founder, who stated that strong advocacy and enlightenment campaign are still continuous exercises in rural dwellings, emphasised the need for the society to promote and improve on breast cancer research development to prevent untimely and avoidable death of breast cancer patients in the society.
