
The Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport, Abuja Branch has sworn in new executives for the chapter with Dr Emmanuel Onwodi as its new president.
At an even which held at the weekend in Abuja, the new Chairman along with other executive were administered to their oath of offices and took over the helms of the institute.
Onwodi emerged president after a keenly contested election.
In his acceptance speech, Onwodi while thanking members of the Institute, the executive committee as well as the national leadership for entrusting him with such significant responsibility, he noted that he had been humbled by the reposnibility reposed in him.
He specifically poured encomiums on his predecessor for the laudable work he did by building a strong foundation and set exemplary standards that have propelled the Institute.
“I am committed to building upon this legacy and taking our branch to even greater heights.
“As we look ahead, I am acutely aware of the challenges that lie before us. The rapidly evolving nature of our industry demands that we stay at the forefront of innovation, embrace emerging technologies, and adapt to changing global trends.
“One of my key priorities as Chairman will be to foster collaboration and synergy among our members, industry stakeholders, and government agencies. By working together, we can create an enabling environment that promotes knowledge sharing, encourages best practices, and facilitates effective policy advocacy. Through these collaborative efforts, we can address common challenges.” He said.
He pledged his commitment to promoting continuous professional development and capacity building.
Onwodi, a Director Planning & Research Department (PRD) at the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission with experience in accounting, risk management and transport.
Cumulatively, Dr. Onwodi has both public and private sector working experience spanning over twenty years in the fields of accounting, auditing, financial modeling, forensics, credit analysis and management. Other major fields include Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), freight forwarding, mortgage banking, Islamic finance, shipping, logistics, and supply chain.
Onwodi bagged his B.A (Hons) in International Accounting from Northampton University – UK, a Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Accounting from the Institute of Accounting Technicians – Canada and M.Sc. in Risk Management from the Birmingham City University, UK.
He had his doctorate degree in PPP Risk Management with emphasis on contingent liability risk for the public sector at the Selinus Business School Italy.
He is a Chartered Forensic Accountant, a Chartered Management Consultant, a Chartered Financial Consultant and Member, Chartered Management Institute (MCIM).
Others elected and sworn in executives include: Branch Vice Chairman – Mrs Jacintha Ukeh (CMILT), Branch General Secretary – Mrs Cordelia I. Oti (CMILT), Branch Treasurer – Mrs Julieth Erhieyovwe Nwafor (CMILT) and Branch Public Relations Officer – Mr Babatunde Oluyemi Adebiyi (MILT).
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is the leading International Professional body for all sectors of the Transport and Logistics Industry. Founded in the United Kingdom in 1919 and granted a Royal Charter on the 26th of November, 1926 , the CILT was actually established to promote knowledge of the science and art of Logistics and Transport.
