Protesters in Abuja staged a demonstration over the abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, demanding urgent action from security agencies to secure their release.
During the protest, participants carried placards with inscriptions such as “Release our children and allow Tinubu to work,” combining a call for the safe return of the kidnapped children with support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The protesters urged authorities to intensify rescue operations and ensure the immediate and safe recovery of the victims, stressing that insecurity affecting schoolchildren should be treated as a national emergency.
They also appealed for improved coordination between security agencies in responding to kidnapping incidents, insisting that political distractions should not slow down efforts to address the situation.
At the time of the protest, there was no official public response from the affected state government regarding the specific allegations or claims raised by the group.
Security agencies are expected to continue investigations and efforts aimed at locating and rescuing the abducted children.
