He said Taiwo ultimately created a template for those that would subsequently wear the mantle of leadership in the club.

According to him, “She set goals and achieved 66 projects during her service year through dedication and we are to move in the same direction so as not to bring our club down.

“I appear before you today as the Imaginative Rotary President of Isolo, one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria.

“I joined the club in the year 2005 and has remained an active member till date, a Paul Haris Fellow three times, served in various capacity in the club and has contributed to the growth of the club financially, morally among others,” he said

Oshoniyi immediately kicked off the programme of the club by naming his board members who are the Assistant Governor, Raf Abanum as the Club Advisor and Vice President and the immediate membership Chair, Alhaja Abimbola Oseni, who would be his eyes.

Oshoniyi, who is determined to cover Rotary’s seven areas of focus, said he would commence with membership training for a leadership position as well as training on followership.

He enumerated some of the projects he would execute including the free treatment of cervical cancer as well as prostate cancer.

He promised to create a health insurance scheme for members with the donation of N1 million, adding that health is wealth.

Taiwo described her tenure as very impactful where many lives were touched in the area, building a cervical screening centre at the Isolo General hospital and empowering 20 petty traders among others.

“Our goal was to carry out 25 projects but we ended doing 66,” she said.

Oseni said she fully accepted the job of coordinating what goes on in the club as she liaises and takes directives from Oshoniyi.

“Personally, I love challenges and as he gives me directives, I would also give him useful advice and I believe every member of the club would be on the same page to move the club forward,” she said.

Oshoniyi is the managing director of Sparta Construction Company, an engineering outfit that constructed the three major Trapezoidal canals that solved the flood problems in Lagos State, the Arigbanla Trapezoidal Canal in Agege, Atunrase/Gbagada Trapezoidal Canal and System 2 Shomolu Trapezoidal Canal.

He is a motivational leader, whose life has motivated several youths and adults both in and outside the country. The Isolo Rotary Club is expected to benefit immensely from Oshoniyi’s bulk of benevolent philanthropists.
