The Imaginative President, Rotary Club of Isolo, Dr. ‘Femi Oshoniyi has reiterated the need for Rotarians to equip themselves with more knowledge of Rotary, to prepare themselves for the task ahead.

Oshoniyi, who disclosed this during a two-day training session, titled: Isolo Training Assembly (ITA), with the theme: “Building a functional and effective club,” which took place at Pesken Hotel, Maryland, Lagos, said the event was in line with his passion and priority to build quality leaders for his club and Rotary in general.

During the programme held virtually and attended by members of the club, Rotarians, as well as prospective Rotarians, Oshoniyi said it was the actualisation of his lofty dream.

He appreciated the participants for making themselves available for the training and also gave kudos to one of the resource persons on the ground, District Governor-Elect, Rotarian ‘Femi Adenekan for equipping the beneficiaries with outstanding leadership traits.

Speaking through his representative, Vice President and President-elect, Rotary Club of Isolo, Hajia Abimbola Oseni, Oshoniyi premised the purpose of the training on the necessity to equip members with more knowledge.

“It is also to tell other Rotarians that for anyone to become an office holder in Rotary Club of Isolo or any other Rotary Club under the umbrella of Rotary International, one must acquire such knowledge that would enable him or her to function effectively.

“The take-home from this training is that for one to become a leader, he or she must be a man or woman of high integrity, empathy, goal-getter and be ready to give back to the community wherever he or she finds him or herself,” he said.

Oshoniyi added that the same virtue had been communicated to other members of Rotary present at the training, as well as prospective members in attendance.

He charged the participants to imbibe everything they were taught with regards to leadership and also be ready to pass on what they benefitted to others who were not privileged to attend.

On his part, Adenekan said the training also centered on equipping Rotarians with the ability to impact their world with a view to consistently deliver the value of Rotary.
