The Olubosin of Ifetedo Kingdom, Oba Akinola Oyetade Akinrera, has urged Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to fear no one, as God and the spirit of his ancestors are solidly behind him.

The monarch spoke during the governor’s tour of Ife-South and Ife-North local councils of Ife Federal Constituency.

Akinrera said the governor’s achievements, particularly in the areas of health, security, infrastructure and education, had already convinced the citizens, particularly his subjects, to get him re-elected for second a term.

Also, the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba Olusegun Joseph Oloyede, the Salu of Edunabon, Oba Kehinde Oladepo and other traditional rulers, pledged their loyalty and support for the Governor to serve the State for second term.

Meanwhile, Oyetola, yesterday, warned the people of Iwo and its environs not to join hands with his detractors to scuttle his second-term ambition.

Also, the state’s Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, Dr. AmiduTadese Raheem, advised APC members that wanted to contest against the governor to drop such ambition, describing it as “a political suicide mission.”

It would be recalled that the governor had obtained APC’s party nomination form to contest for a second term.

However, a prominent son of Iwo and APC chieftain, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti also obtained the APC governorship form.

Adeoti served as the Secretary to the State Government under the administration of Rauf Aregbesola, where Oyetola served as the Chief of Staff. In the last governorship election in the state, Adeoti was the standard-bearer of Action Democratic Party (ADP). But, he has returned to the APC.

Oyetola, represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abdullahi Binuyo, spoke at a public lecture organised by Ilerioluwa Purposeful Youths in Ayedire/ Iwo/ Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency in Oyetola’s honour.

The programme which had the theme: “Ilerioluwa Beyond 2022: Governance for Sustainable Human Development,” was held at Iwo City Hall, Iwo, Osun State.

Oyetola had, in the last two weeks, embarked on a strategic engagement tour to familiarise with the newly-elected executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroots.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers in Ife-South Local Council, Oba Akinrera, extolled Oyetola for the good works his administration did to transform the state.

The monarch, particularly, appreciated the governor for bringing to life the dilapidated and abandoned Ifetedo General Hospital.

He said revitalising the General Hospital and other primary healthcare centres across the council had contributed significantly to healthy living, as it had become the signpost of quality healthcare service delivery.

Akinrera said: “I am fully aware of your intervention in the health sector. I remember vividly that before you were elected in 2018, prior to my installation, the General Hospital was in abysmal status, and abandoned because of the dilapidated structures to the extent that goat could not deliver or give birth therein. But, I thank you for refurbishing and equipping it with quality and state-of-the-art facilities.

“We believe strongly that as long as you are there, our demands will be met. We have seen what you have done so far and we are not going to be ungrateful. We will support you and ensure that you are re-elected. You are a listening Governor whose passion and love for people’s welfare and well-being is second to none. You are too humble and humane, and this has endeared many to you. There is no fear for you. God is with you. The spirit of our forebears is with you and we are solidly behind you”, the monarch assured.

Also, Oladepo assured the governor of his people’s support, saying they have already made up their minds to return him with their votes come July 16.

Oladepo commended the governor for keeping to his electoral promises.

APC State Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, implored members of the party to remain steadfast and united in the collective goal to take the party to victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
Famodun disclosed the party might adopt a direct primary in February 19 election.

He called on party loyalists to vote Oyetola as flag-bearer.
