Osun Accord, PDP warn INEC against release of unclaimed PVCs to APC

Osun State governor Ademola Adeleke

Ahead of the August 15 governorship polls in Osun State, the state chapters of the Accord Party (AP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to succumb to the alleged pressure to release unclaimed Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They, however, charged the electoral umpire to eschew any act that could threaten the sanctity and credibility of the forthcoming gubernatorial polls in the state.

In a joint statement signed by the Osun State Chairman of the PDP, Sunday Bisi, and his counterpart in the Accord Party, Victor Akande, the political parties disclosed that available information indicated that the APC was mounting pressure on INEC to secure unclaimed PVCs with a view to rigging the election.

The statement read in part: “We have it on good authority that the Osun State APC is pressuring the electoral commission to release some PVCs for their imported illegal voters. We task the Commission not to succumb to such illegal conduct as the distribution of PVCs has a template which should be observed to the letter.”

HOWEVER, Osun State chapter of the APC has dismissed as “false, fabricated and frivolous” allegations by the Accord Party that APC leaders met to plan political killings and rig the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

In a statement by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC described Accord Party’s claim of an “evil political meeting” at Bisi Akande’s Icountry home as “manufactured” and urged the police to investigate the Accord Party Chairman to make him “substantiate” the allegation.
