Group sensitises members, others on breast cancer
At the Business and Professional Women, Lagos Rubies, breast cancer awareness seminar for its members held recently, speakers focused on prevention, early detection, screening and care for victims.
Elizabeth Osunwusi of Sebeccly Cancer Trust, who spoke on interventions provided by her organisation, challenges and achievements, emphasised the need to be observant while checking one’s breasts as “Early detection really helps, unlike when it is huge and survival rate is usually very low then.”
Evelyn Okolie Okoloh, a breast cancer survivor of eight years, spoke about chemotherapy, the challenges and finding cure through natural recipes. Having a supportive husband and family, she added, made life better for her. “When I was diagnosed of breast cancer, it was my husband who knew before me. He did all the lab things and went to collect the lab results. He has been very supportive. He took care of the children while I was doing my chemotherapy.”
