There has been outrage following a trending viral video of nine teenage Igbo boys who were caught allegedly scaling walls to steal after smoking dangerous substances.

The boys, whose ages range between 12 and 14 years, confessed to having been smoking for some time.

Two of them claimed they take weed, colos and loud.

They said that after inhaling the substance, “We scaled the fence into the compound where we stole rice belonging to the family.”

The boys, however, did not disclose where they purchased the substances.

Reacting to the video, a civil rights advocate, Tony Nwanna, warned that society is drifting dangerously.

“How can these boys get to this level at this age? Those substances they mentioned are dangerous to health and could cause early death. Who introduced them to these drugs?

“The way they talked, you will know they have gone very deep into the trend. It portends danger to society,” he said.

A shocked housewife, Mrs Ifeoma Uwaomah, said: “I am grieved. I cannot hold back tears. Is this what the future holds for this country? They started stealing after inhaling the objects. Who knows what they could have done if they had guns?”
