Supporters of the Oyo State governorship aspirant in the 2027 election, Dr Debo Akande, have debunked story in circulation on social media platforms that Bimbo Adekanmbi has been chosen as the consencus candidate of the PDP in the state.
The supporters said the party has not announced Adekanbi as candidate expressing deep optimism that their aspirant, Akande was leading in the consensus talks.
“The story that Fijabi and Adekanmbi were the final two is a fabrication”, they stated.
According to a former Speaker of Oyo State, and former senator, Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu, details from a closed-door consultation among key Oyo PDP stakeholders indicate Akande secured strong backing during deliberations.
“Akande won most of the votes in the initial inner caucus on day one, and more votes when the meeting was expanded to include more stakeholders”.
“Most influential party leaders view Akande as having the competence, loyalty and experience needed to lead the PDP to victory in 2027.
“The only person who has contributed and sacrificed so much for this government is Dr. Debo Akande”, she asserted.
However, the party has yet to announce any candidate for the governorship seat even as it has not announced selection method.
