The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers and cultists during a coordinated raid on their hideout in the Soka area of Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan.
Police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the operation in a statement, noting that it was carried out by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit following credible intelligence on the activities of a criminal syndicate allegedly responsible for terrorising residents across parts of the Ibadan metropolis.
According to the statement, the operation took place at about 6:00 a.m. on June 10, 2026, after intelligence reports indicated that the suspects were planning another criminal operation within the community.
During the raid, operatives recovered a locally made pistol from the suspects’ hideout. The arrested individuals were identified as Salawu Sarara (alias Folori), Yusuf Tajudeen (alias Blacky), Farouq Ariyo, and Adebayo Awosemo (alias Naira).
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity and admitted involvement in multiple violent crimes within Ibadan and surrounding areas.
The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and dismantle the wider criminal network, adding that investigations are still in progress to establish the full extent of their activities.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained operations aimed at reducing violent crime across Oyo State.
