Oyo police arrest, prosecute ‘Auxillary’ over destruction of campaign billboards

The police, yesterday, arraigned the chairman, Oyo State Motor Parks Management (PMS), Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called ‘Auxiliary’ before a Magistrate’s court in Ibadan North East, for allegedly destructing campaign billboards.

He was arraigned on six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, malicious damage and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

He was accused of destroying billboards, posters and properties of the opposition parties, especially the billboards containing the photographs belonging to opposition political parties ahead of the 2023 election.

Auxiliary was earlier arrested and granted bail at the Ikolaba residence of ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State on Tuesday.

His arrest and bail was sequence to a directive from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alikali Baba, that he should be prosecuted as a result of his involvement in crises in the state.

He was granted bailed at about 1:00p.m., after signing that he will be produced at the court yesterday.
During the sitting, hoodlums in their large numbers besieged the court premises to witness the development.

Majority of the street urchins and PMS members, who in their wildest imagination did not think that Auxiliary could be subjected to face trial were stunned when their boss appeared before the Magistrate.

But to prevent any unforeseen action, officers of the police force and men of the Amotekun were mobolised to prevent people from entering the court premises.
