Oyo police arrest two kidnap suspects in Ibadan

Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers, who were rescued from mob attack at the Alakia area of Ibadan.

Spokesperson for the command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Adewale Osifeso, who confirmed this in a statement, yesterday, said the suspects are in custody for further investigations.

He said:” On Sunday 20/03/2020 at about 0920HRS, operatives of the command on intelligence-led surveillance and patrol around the Alakia Adelubi area of Ibadan responded to a distress call regarding the execution of jungle justice on the duo of Kabiru Salam ‘m’ aged 32 and Lukman Adisa ‘m’ for allegedly attempting to abduct a nine-year-old female, “Ope” on her way to church.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was in the company of her mother, one Afolabi Modupe, ‘f’ and other siblings, when the suspects attempted seizing her from her mother’s grip.

“The suspects, who are now in police custody were first taken for immediate medical attention, while investigations into the matter have immediately commenced. The Commissioner has appealed to the citizenry against taking laws into their hands with the assurances of a diligent and thorough investigation into the incident.

“Further updates would be communicated in due course.”
