Oyo police probe death of Ibadan vendor, Khadi

Oyo State Police Command, yesterday, said it has commenced investigation into circumstances leading to the death of Olayinka Adeshina, who was found dead in a hotel in Ibadan.

The Ibadan-based online vendor, also known as Khadi, was reportedly found dead, last week Thursday, at Wetland Hotel in the Akobo area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Khadi, who ran an online retail store, ‘Shop With Khadi’ on Instagram, where she sold clothing, shoes and fashion accessories, was confirmed dead after she lodged in the hotel, on Wednesday, with a male friend whose identity is yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, Wetland Hotel said it has been cooperating with the authorities with their investigation as the matter is wholly a police case.

The hotel management said it has given the police full statement and information about the incident.

“We regret to inform you that an unfortunate incident occurred at our hotel, Wetland Hotel. One of our guests passed away while staying with us.

“We are fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation into this matter, and we assure you that we are doing everything we can to assist the police in their efforts to determine the cause of death.

“Please rest assured that the safety and well-being of our guests and staff are our top priority.”

We have taken all necessary measures to ensure that our facilities and services continue to meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety,” the hotel management said.
